After many years in community college--taking classes in between acting gigs-- Ruth transferred to UCLA and achieved her dream of earning her B.A. in English Literature with an emphasis in creative writing. In 2016, she graduated summa cum laude and with departmental Highest Honors.

Ms. Livier is continuing her education at UCLA. She is a doctoral candidate in the department of Information Studies, and is concurrently earning a Digital Humanities certificate. Her research is situated at the intersection of digital technologies, Latinx Americans, media, labor, and social justice. She has been published in InterActions: UCLA Journal of Education and Information Studies, is a contributing author in Gig Economy: Workers and Media in the Era of Convergence, and in The Intersectional Internet II: Power, Politics and Resistance Online (forthcoming). Ruth has presented her research at the DigiLabour “The Future of the Platform Economy and Platform Work” PhD symposium, the Union for Democratic Communications Project Censored (2019), the International Network on Digital Labour (2019), and the Association of Internet Researchers (2018), among others.
